GPS Location Tracking

GPS tracking is the surveillance of location through use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) (utilizing a network of satellites) to track the location of an entity or object remotely. As used within retail, location-based services use real-time location data from a smartphone to provide information to customers, entertain, and send safety or security alerts. Some services allow consumers to “check in” at restaurants, coffee shops, stores, concerts, and other places or events. In all cases, the GPS tracking is measuring three separate data sets: navigation, positioning, and timing.
